Built in 1926 the Muriel Eileen is a wooden deadrise "Chesapeake Bay Buyboat" typical of many similar boats of that time. It has a mast and boom forward of the hold with the pilothouse aft of the hold with the hull decked over. It is 58.3' long with a 18.1' beam.
These 'buyboats" were used to haul freight, water melons and oysters in the days when roads in the Chesapeake Bay area were poor. Buyboats provided the capability to move products to market and played and important role in the areas overall economy.
Carefully restored by the current owner the Muriel Eileen is now a beautiful family yacht.
Originally powered by a 50-horsepower Regal engine it was repowered in 1947 and is now powered by a 115-horsepower D-1300 Caterpiller diesel. The three pictures below show the Muriel Eileen underway on the Chesapeake Bay. Click on any of the links at the bottom of this page to see pictures of the systems we added to the Muriel Eileen.
